The creative genius behind SSC

Tell us a bit about yourself - what do you do? Where are you from?

My name is Jerami Goodwin. I'm from Atlanta, GA and moved to NYC in 2009 to pursue a career as an artist. My first love was graffiti. I moved to NYC to become a famous graffiti writer. Before I knew it I had attained global notoriety under my moniker “STAINO”. In 2011, I began diversifying my artistic practices by teaching myself how to tattoo, developing a celebrity clientele such as Lindsay Lohan, ASAP Ferg, Luka Sabbat, and more. During the same period, I developed an interest in fine art and began painting, eventually displaying and selling my artwork in dozens of shows around the country.

Where do you feel most inspired?

I am inspired by art and aesthetics. I love creating beautiful things and I work in homage to the artists before me who paved the way for me to have the privilege of honoring the idea of being an artist.

When have you truly felt most happy in your life?

I am happiest when I am productive. I need to do something creative every day. It could be a tattoo, a painting, or catching a tag. Whatever it is if I don’t make something every day, I feel off.

When have you gotten lost in your work and why?

Abstract expressionism. I often get lost in the process of creating abstract expressionist works because its nature is to be free, not calculated, and emotional. Its just me and the materials, with no plan. The process itself is part is just as exciting as the result.

What about SSC resonates with you?

My inspiration and goal when I created Soho Ski Club, was to create a platform to collaborate with my friends and artists. I know so many talented people and my vision is to involve everyone in some way to be creative together. A vehicle of collaboration with visual artists, models, sculptors, photographers, brands, videographers, and musicians. The list is endless.

xx SSC
